Over thirty years ago, Hip-Hop made its entrance into the music world, establishing a culture of its own. The poetic knowledge of Gill Scott Heron, “phat” drumbeats and the writing and rhyming of New York and California MC’s, created a force to reckon with, and for many, a way of life. For those who grew up with Hip-Hop, it was recognized as a positive force within the community; one that could support the people within by talking about life in the community. Over the years, Hip-Hop has evolved into one the world’s most dominating creative movements. The clothing line, Blame it on Hip-Hop (BIOHH) is a part of this important movement to recognize & give credit to the positive forces in the Hip-Hop community, vs. the negative.
Founded in November of 2002, five men from different parts of the country came together to produce a clothing line with a purpose. The founders of BIOHH share a love of Hip-Hop that is evident in the design of their current products. The BIOHH apparel reflects the spirit of Hip-Hop, with a graffiti-styled logo that includes a microphone and vinyl LP--elements that embrace the origins of the culture.
Hip-Hop is a movement that BIOHH wants to continue and expand upon through education and events that explore the humble beginnings and future of this culture. BIOHH is expanding into a full-fledged clothing line, giving new designers the opportunity to present their work. In a commitment to serve the community, partial proceeds from BIOHH clothing sales will benefit the Inner-City educational system. The creators at BIOHH are making the point that sources shouldn't blame 'it' on Hip-Hop, as Hip-Hop is not the problem. From the streets of New York, Chicago, and California, BIOHH is part of the Hip-Hop world that will continue to be “Televised.”
